Create a practical, sheltered enclosure for one or two chickens with the Absco 1.52m x 0.78m Flat Roof Chicken Coop. Its compact footprint is suited to smaller backyards, while the combination of solid steel panels and wide galvanised mesh sections provides shelter, ventilation and clear visibility into the enclosure.

Designed for approximately 1–2 chickens, the coop provides a protected space for resting at night or staying secure when they cannot be supervised. The number of chickens it can accommodate will depend on their breed, size and access to additional outdoor space.

The single hinged door provides convenient access for feeding, cleaning and everyday care. Although designed as a chicken coop, this versatile enclosure may also be suitable for use as an aviary, cattery, dog kennel or small-animal shelter, depending on the size and needs of your animals.

Made in Australia from high-tensile BlueScope steel, the coop features a low-maintenance Zincalume® finish, rolled safety edges, a braced door and superior wall rigidity. Absco’s SNAPTiTE® assembly system, pre-punched holes and labelled parts help support a smoother DIY build.

This flat-pack chicken coop is designed as a permanent, fixed structure and should be securely anchored to a suitable concrete slab. Anchors are not included. You will require 8 anchors or 2 packs for installation, purchased separately.

Before introducing birds or animals, the galvanised mesh must either be weathered for two months or scrubbed with a mild acidic solution, such as vinegar, and rinsed thoroughly with clean water. Please ensure the enclosure is appropriate for your animals before purchasing.

Frequently asked questions

How many chickens can this coop accommodate?

This compact coop is suitable for approximately 1–2 chickens, depending on their breed and size. Consider how much time they will spend inside the enclosure and whether they will have access to an additional outdoor area or chicken run.

Always ensure your chickens have adequate space, shelter, ventilation and access to food and water.

Is this suitable as a full-time enclosure?

The coop provides a protected space for one or two chickens to rest at night or stay secure when they cannot be supervised. Providing access to an additional outdoor area or chicken run is recommended so they have more room to move during the day.

Does this chicken coop include anchors?

No. This chicken coop requires 8 anchors or 2 packs for concrete slab installation, purchased separately.

Does the chicken coop come with a floor?

No. A concrete slab and floor are not supplied. The chicken coop should be installed and securely anchored to a suitable level concrete slab.

Can this enclosure be used for other animals?

It may also be suitable for use as an aviary, cattery, dog kennel or small-animal shelter. Always check that the enclosure dimensions, mesh and overall design are appropriate for your animals before purchasing.

Does the galvanised mesh need to be prepared before use?

Yes. Before introducing birds or animals, allow the galvanised mesh to weather for two months or scrub it with a mild acidic solution, such as vinegar, and then rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

How many people are needed for assembly?

For best results, have at least two people available during assembly.

Can the chicken coop be moved after installation?

The chicken coop is designed as a permanent, fixed structure and should be securely anchored to a suitable concrete slab.
